Alliance Hockey Burlington - House League 2019-20
A statement from Alliance Hockey Burlington regarding the House League system with Jr. Cougars Hockey and the Burlington Bulldogs for the 2019-20 season.

Dear Burlington Hockey Participants;

We would like to announce that beginning the 2019-2020 Hockey Season that all House League / Original Six hockey will be transitioning from the Wave Jr. Cougars to the BLOMHA Bulldogs House League program.

The Burlington Jr. Cougars and the Burlington Bulldogs are striving for excellence as we deliver Alliance hockey within Burlington. The overall objective is to foster, promote and teach amateur hockey within the city of Burlington. It is our hope that all players have every opportunity to excel as well as to play hockey with their friends, schoolmates, and neighbours. We will defend the strength and longevity of both of our local associations to ensure the opportunity for all kids and families to access and choose the level and commitment that they wish to pursue.

About BLOMHA:

The Burlington Lions Optimist Minor Hockey Association was formed in 1951 and is one of the oldest, longest serving youth organizations in our community. BLOMHA is a volunteer-based organization with 700 volunteers guiding over 1800 players and 135 teams, making it one of the largest minor hockey associations within the Minor Hockey Alliance of Ontario.

“The Burlington Lions Optimist Minor Hockey Association (BLOMHA), is one of the original member associations of the Alliance Hockey, we are very eager to welcome the Jr. Cougars to Alliance hockey as well into the BLOMHA Bulldogs’ community.  We are looking forward to working together and consolidating our partnership” stated BLOMHA Executive Director, Rick Dawson.

About Jr. Cougars:

The Burlington Jr. Cougars organization was founded as Wave Hockey in 2003. Beginning with a single pad facility in Burlington with approximately 20 House League teams; a twin pad facility was opened in 2006, shortly after Rep and Select programming were introduced.  There are currently 29 Rep teams and 46 House League teams ranging from Tyke to Midget.

This is a very exciting movement, stated Vice President Anthony Miele “ We are pleased that the Burlington Bulldogs are welcoming the Burlington Jr. Cougars participants and will continue to offer them excellent programming while taking advantage of all that the Alliance Hockey and Hockey Canada membership has to offer. As BLOMHA is supporting us in all AA and A seeded programming, we will also support the assumption of all house league programming and its delivery.”

This is a tremendous opportunity for both of the organizations in Burlington to further the partnership and stream line hockey programming for the benefits of all the hockey families in the city.

House League Hockey Registration will open later in the spring. Please stay tuned to the BLOMHA Bulldogs website as well as the Jr. Cougars website for more information.
