JR. RAIDERS APPOINT NHL ALUMNUS CORY CONACHER DIRECTOR OF U8 TEAM
The
Jr. Raiders are proud to announce that former NHL and European professional
player Cory Conacher is taking the reins as the Director of U8 for the
Burlington Jr. Raiders Hockey Club. In
this role, Cory will serve as coach while mentoring the U8 coaching staff to
take the team through their Jr. Raiders careers while working with the players
on their skills development.
Cory has
transitioned from a professional player to one of the leading skills
instructors in the city. In his first year as a pro, Cory was recognized as
both the AHL Rookie of the Year and the AHL MVP. Cory’s NHL career saw him play for Tampa Bay,
Ottawa, New York Islander and the Buffalo Sabers before embarking on a
successful European career.
With an
emphasis on skill development, skating, and shooting, our U8 players will learn
the essential skills to not only improve as players, but also to increase their
enjoyment of the game while our U8 coaches will learn how to run practices,
teach skills development and be introduced to the essentials of positioning and
strategies.
Cory’s
joining the Jr. Raiders is another step in the organization becoming the
preeminent minor hockey program in Burlington for player development and
advancement. The Jr. Raiders remain
committed to focusing on player development, placing an emphasis on quality
over quantity.
