A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT DAVE CONACHER
REGARDING – AP (Affiliated Player) Rules in Burlington

Dear Raiders Nation;

Now that our current hockey season is winding down and try-outs are just around the corner, I want to take this opportunity to clarify the AP (Affiliated Player) rules in Burlington.

There seems to be some misleading information circulating in Burlington (surprise!) that needs to be addressed.

As everyone knows, there are 2 youth Hockey Canada Associations operating in Burlington 1) Alliance Hockey Association and 2) Ontario Minor Hockey Association.

Our Jr Raiders teams are members of the Alliance Hockey Association while our Eagles friends are members of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association.

The fact that there are 2 youth hockey organizations in Burlington is a bit unusual which can lead to some to unique situations like AP rules.

In general, AP rules within Hockey Canada are designed to allow teams at one level to AP (call up) a player from a team at a lower level or lower age group. AP rules are generally used in cases where a team requires a player due to illness or injury. Some organizations utilize the AP rule for further their player development opportunities.

Examples: 1) A Raiders player playing “A” hockey can AP to a Raiders team at “AA”.

                      2) A Raiders player playing U11 can AP to a U12 Raiders team.

In Burlington, because we have 2 organizations offering Rep hockey, Ontario Hockey Federation allows players from the Raiders (Alliance) to AP with the Eagles (OMHA) and visa versa.

Examples: 1) A Raiders player playing “A” hockey can AP to an Eagles team at “AA” and visa versa.

                      2) A  Raiders player playing U11 can AP to a U12 Eagles team and visa versa.

Due to the unique situation in Burlington, every year there are players who move between the Raiders and Eagles organizations. Our Raiders programming is and always will be focused on developing hockey players. Nothing makes us happier to see our players develop and play “AAA” hockey.

In closing, I want every Raiders family to know there are no road blocks or agreements in place to prevent our players from being an Affiliate Player to the Burlington Eagles Rep Hockey Club.

I want to wish everyone a great try-out season and if you have any questions regarding the AP rules, please direct them to your team reps. Thank-you.

Sincerely,

Dave Conacher
